Boa Vista
Oi Familia!!!!
Happy (day after) Easter!!!! We had a nice little Easter here on the island of Boa Vista! They had a sacrament meeting all about Christ/Easter and it went really well! And then during lunch me and Sister Turner dyed Easter eggs!
Boa Vista is great!!! It looks a lot like Sal- really flat... pretty much just a desert... but really beautiful beaches! And there is sand absolutely everywhere. The airport looks like a sand castle. And there are these big sand dunes! We went there for p-day today and it was so fun! I will send some pictures for you :) And Boa Vista is even more touristy than Sal. There are SO MANY tourists!! It is kind of weird.
The church is really young here- Elders just came to start it last year! But there are already 50-60 members every week. The majority of our branch is from continental Africa- Guinea-Bissau, Senegal, places around there. They have activities every single night, and one of those is when the sisters give a Portuguese class! Haha who knew I would have to learn Portuguese to go on a Portuguese speaking mission to teach the people who live here how to speak Portuguese! Haha... But I am so excited to work here! Me and Sister Turner are both new in this area, so we are still working on getting to know everyone and finding all our investigators. But things are going so well so far! It will be a good transfer!!
The transfer started off pretty exciting though! Remember how last week in Brava we had no water? Well... we got to our new house in Boa Vista (which is SO NICE and has a BEAUTIFUL view of the ocean!) and there was NO WATER! Every morning for 4 days we had to walk down the street to a nice man with a big water hose and fill up a bunch of those big water jugs for 5 cents each. But now the water is back and we even have a water heater!! Woohoo!!!
I love you all!! The church is true!! I love being a missionary!!
Love,
Sister Turley :)
